The Trace McSorley era in Arizona may be over.
Just like that.
For one game on Christmas night Trace McSorley went toe to toe with the greatest QB of all time, Tom Brady.
In fairness neither QB played well. McSorley went 24-45 with 217 passing yards while only putting up a QBR of 11.5.
McSorley did not play well by any means but does he deserve to get benched after one start?
McSorley was signed off of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad during the 2021 season and has effectively been with the Cardinals ever since.
McSorley has had time to develop and learn the Kliff Kingsbury’s offense and was forced into playing action after both Kyler Murray and Colt McCoy were injured throughout the season.
Now with Colt McCoy missing another game in Week 17, The Cardinals have decided to turn to David Blough.
Yes, David Blough.
He was signed off of the Minnesota Vikings practice squad on December 14th and now he will be a starting QB in Week 17 of the NFL season.
This is a great opportunity for Blough, who hasn't started an NFL game since 2020 with the Detroit Lions. But you have to wonder why Kliff Kingsbury would decide to make the switch away from Trace McSorley.
Blough will have been with the organization a little over two weeks when he makes the start on Sunday while McSorley will have been in the system for over a year.
This QB switch comes at a time where there is a lot of uncertainty for the Cardinals franchise. Being in the midst of a subpar season where expectations have not been met, can David Blough lead the Cardinals to win over the Atlanta Falcons Sunday?
The Quarterback matchup in Atlanta will feature rookie QB Desmond Ridder opposing David Blough.
This seems like a swift change to move on from McSorley after one game, but maybe David Blough is the change on offense they need.
