When the Ravens drafted Kyle Hamilton 14th Overall in the 2022 NFL Draft it left some Baltimore Ravens fans scratching their heads. As the 2022 season progressed Hamilton took strides and became one of the Ravens most reliable defenders. In 2023 he became one of the NFL’s best defensive players.
On Sunday, Hamilton will more than likely be tasked with covering a future Hall of Famer, Travis Kelce.
After catching two TD passes on Sunday against the Chiefs, Kelce showed he is still the most reliable target for Patrick Mahomes.
Hamilton can help make the Chiefs offense more one dimensional. If you remove Kelce, the top two offensive playmakers for Patrick Mahomes are Rashee Rice and Isiah Pacheco.
No matter who the Chiefs suit up on Sunday they are always dangerous because of Mahomes. Having a player like Hamilton may free up situations for the Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald to get creative. This would especially be even more important if Marlon Humphrey were to miss another game with his calf injury.
It will not be an easy task for Hamilton, Kelce is a future Hall of Fame player for a reason. If Hamilton can help shut down Kelce then the Ravens have a really good chance of winning.
