Money doesn't grow on trees in Colorado, it comes from the ground. Is CU paying Primetime with weed?

Former head coach of Jackson State football, Deion Sanders signed with the University of Colorado early last December. The NFL legend took Jackson State to a 26-6 record throughout his three-year stint with the Tigers, explaining why the Buffs locked him up with a five-year, $29.5 million contract. But, where is that money coming from? According to Colorado Athletic Director, Rick George, the university has no idea where that money will come from, nor do they have it, but that Sanders will get it somehow.

Many would think that the name "Primetime" would easily bring the money, considering how much impact Sanders has had on the program already. However, I think that the Buffs' source of payment could be deeper than that, much deeper; so deep that it will come from the soil of the great rocky mountain state of Colorado.

As we all know, in 2012, the distribution and use of marijuana was legalized with the passing of Amendment 64 to the Colorado constitution. It's not a surprise that the state's major university is also getting in on the fun.

According to Colorado's Department of Agriculture, there is hemp cultivation on its campus in Boulder. And, the university has registered a number of spaces throughout the campus for hemp cultivation research. In fact, there was even a school-wide celebration that had students flooding the campus to "light up" on April 20, 2014. According to Channel 9 News, CU spent $60,000 in order to conduct this "pot fest". Apparently, this is an annual celebration, celebrated by a major university in the United States.

It's not for certain whether or not CU is passing the weed to Sanders. But, he's getting passed something and right now, it isn't cash.
