The Baltimore Orioles could trade Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg

Do you want the Orioles to win a championship in 2023?

Maybe Mike Elias knows what he is doing.

What if keeping the Orioles Prospects in the minors are the key to building a championship team in 2023?

The Orioles are winning but they have a prospect problem.

Baltimore is proving to everyone that this is a team that will try to contend in October. Many fans are left wondering what moves will be made before the deadline and what prospects should be called up.

At this time Jordan Westburg and Colton Cowser are knocking on the door of the Major Leagues, not to mention role players such as Terrin Vavra and Kyle Stowers.

What Should the Orioles do with these prospects?

At this point the argument could have certainly been made for Cowser and Westburg’s promotions but we still have yet to see them in the majors.

I think there is a chance we may never see them called up for the Orioles.

At some point the Orioles have to start parlaying prospects into ready now Major League contributors. This means prospects will be dealt.

Keeping Westburg and Cowser in Triple-A may mean they are part of upcoming trade talks.

Think about it. Westburg and Cowser are tearing up AAA baseball right now. Their stock keep growing. If the Orioles decided to call up both up and then they struggled, the price of return could certainly shrink as well.

Bringing up Westburg and Cowser could be a risk for deadline acquisitions.

Westburg and Cowser arent the only possibilities to be traded at the deadline. Really any prospect in the system could get the phone call that they are being dealt to another organization.

Here are the list of players I would certainly not trade

  1. Jackson Holliday

  2. Heston Kjerstad

I also would rather not trade Colton Cowser.

These 3 players are all guys you can build a lineup around for the next half decade, along with Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson.
