Let’s all come together and agree,
The Atlanta Braves are going to win the 2023 World Series.
That’s right, just like the 2021 season, they are going to win the World Series.
Co-host of Josh and Pat and fellow Picks and Pancakes writer Patrick Cassat agrees, right now the best baseball team in the world is the Atlanta Braves.
As Patrick mentioned in his most recent article, The Braves currently have a .662 winning percentage, the best in baseball. They sent 8 players to the All Star game at one point filling the entire infield of bravos.
They do indeed currently have the NL MVP favorite on their team with Ronald Acuna Jr., the first player to ever have 60 stolen bases and 30 home runs in a season. And yes, they also have a starting lineup that features the lowest batting avg of a player at .256.
Leading the league in homeruns, 46 more home runs than any other team, should also not go unnoticed, so I’m glad our resident Orioles fan mentioned that as well.
However, this is when our two opinions begin to differ.
The Atlanta Braves WILL win the world series.
Not only baseball, but every sport is played differently when it comes to playoffs. It’s the reason they each have their own set of stats.
Sure it might be a little chilly. Sure it might not be at a team’s home field. But as the Braves say when they’re down at every home game in the bottom of the 9th,
“We’ve done it before, we will do it again”.
You know what else changes in the postseason? The routine of series after series in regular season Summer ball turns into an all out sprint, and come Fall, the Braves are prepared to show just how fast they can be.
Hell, they just showed it in their most recent series as they took on their likely opponent in this year’s NLCS with the Los Angeles Dodgers. A 4-game series that the Braves took 3-1.
People like to find a chink in one’s armor, and many including Patrick believe for the Braves that their chink is defense. However, I’m not too concerned thanks to Michael Harris II…
The Braves will win this year’s world series.
And while we’re at it, I hope it’s against the Baltimore Orioles.
