The XFL is back.
People left the weekend saying that the XFL was actually pretty solid. People fell in love with the 3-pt conversion, 4th and 15 replacements for onside kicks and the replay review system. Matt Barrie even took a jab at Tony Romo. The league even had fans throwing lemons on the field. So to recap Week 1 here is your XFL Power Rankings.
1. Houston Roughnecks
It was a dominant performance for the Houston Roughnecks, who had the largest margin of victory over the weekend. Maybe it was the fact they got a chance to play Paxton Lynch for part of the game but the Roughnecks look good
2. St. Louis Battlehawks
A.J McCarron, yep, A.J McCaron. He led them to a 12 point comeback in the final 1:30 of the game. Is this the start of a run for the Battlehawks? Maybe A.J McCarron and the Battlehawks just got lucky at the end of the game but I have heard of A.J McCarron before and he currently has the most 4th quarter comebacks in the league this year.
3. DC Defenders
1985 Bears, 2000 Ravens and the 2023 DC Defenders, just naming some of the best defenses of all time. The Defenders scored 22 points primarily because of their defense who had two interceptions from Michael Joseph and one of them being a Pick Six. DC won this game because their defense stepped up in the 2nd half.
4. Arlington Renegades
If the DC Defenders have an all time defense, Arlington is asking to be included. They had two interceptions returned for a touchdown. The Renegades also came from behind in the 2nd half.
5. Vegas Vipers
Luis Perez is their QB. I think he is okay, but you can't throw two Pick Sixes. They were up big in the first half, they just needed to close it out.
6. Seattle Sea Dragons
I am here to support the Sea Dragons. They may have struggled in the 2nd half but I think they can win some football games. It's also tough that they have to travel for a short week across the country.
7. San Antonio Brahmas
I'm not sure what a Bramah is, and maybe that's just me, but it's not a good look to blow a double digit fourth quarter lead with 1:30 left in the game. At least Kalen Ballage was pretty solid as the leading running back.
8. Orlando Guardians
They lost by the most points in Week 1. The Guardians are hoping for a bounce back performance this week.
